Description of Incident:
Broward Sheriff’s Office robbery detectives are asking for the public’s help as they investigate a Wednesday morning robbery and shooting outside of a landscaping company.
The incident began around 11 a.m. when two men stopped at Q. Mitchell Nursery on Sunrise Boulevard to buy some sand. A man with a long goatee, a green shirt and a black baseball cap approached them and demanded that they hand over their cash and belongings. One of the men ran, and the other complied. For unknown reasons, the robber shot him in the leg.
Witnesses said the criminal fled in a black Chevrolet pickup with tinted windows, chrome side trim molding that runs the length of the truck and a tool box in the bed. The word Chevrolet is printed in large letters across the back end of the vehicle. A surveillance camera captured the pickup, and detectives have released that image. In addition, BSO sketch artist John McMahon created a composite sketch of the suspect.
Anyone with information about the robbery can report it to BSO Det. Roger Peterson at (954) 321-4270 or report tips anonymously to Crime Stoppers of Broward County at (954) 493-TIPS (8477) or online at www.browardcrimestoppers.org. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for a tip that leads to an arrest.
Media note: A surveillance photo of the black Chevrolet pickup and a composite sketch of the victim are attached to this release.
