Date: May 8, 2014 PIO Number: 14-5-8
The Broward Sheriff's Office cracked down on wanted criminals during a one-day warrant sweep across various cities. The operation started before dawn on May 8. BSO deputies, working in teams of three, focused on the southern part of the county, from County Line Road up to Broward Boulevard. The offenders had an array of charges including meth and cocaine possession, DUI, robbery, burglary, grand theft and battery. Deputies attempted to serve more than 160 warrants, out of which they made 19 arrests (eight for misdemeanors and 11 felonies).
"Our priority is to always keep our neighborhoods safe and to put those who break the law behind bars,” Sheriff Scott Israel said. “Operations like this one help us achieve that goal.”
