BSO INVESTIGATES SHOOTING DEATH

Description of Incident:
Broward Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a man who was killed inside his Lighthouse Point home Friday morning. BSO detectives believe a domestic dispute may have led to the fatal shooting.
The incident took place shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 19th inside a home, located at 3021 NE 45th Street.
According to investigators, at 11:40 a.m., Lighthouse Point Police officers responded to the address after receiving a 911 call in reference to a domestic situation. Upon their arrival, officers encountered an injured woman who appeared to be in her mid-40s. The woman told investigators she had just fatally shot her boyfriend and that his body was inside the house. After confirming they were dealing with an apparent homicide, Lighthouse Point Police officers contacted BSO homicide detectives.
The circumstances leading up to this fatal shooting are still under investigation. The female subject was transported to North Broward Medical Center where she remains this evening in stable condition. The victim’s body was transported to the Broward Medical Examiner’s Office where an autopsy will be performed tomorrow morning to determine an exact cause and manner of death.
The names of the victim and the subject are being withheld pending the notification of their next of kin.
