FATAL HIT AND RUN IN LAUDERDALE LAKES

Description of Incident:

An adult male was struck and killed around 1 a.m. as he was attempting to cross over Oakland Park Boulevard in Lauderdale Lakes.

The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect vehicle was heading westbound on West Oakland Park Boulevard in the far-left thru lane. The pedestrian was crossing the roadway southbound midblock when he was struck. The driver fled the scene.

Detectives believe the suspect vehicle is a 2002-2007 Jeep Liberty. It should have damage to the front driver side, including the bumper, headlight, marker lens and possibly hood. Also from evidence located on scene, the vehicle will be missing the driver side fender cover.
