  • Bank of America, 3833 West Commercial Boulevard, Tamarac

  • Unidentified male

Description of Incident:

A suspect, who intended to rob a bank in Tamarac this morning, got cold feet after handing the teller a note but not before he was caught on surveillance video.

The incident occurred shortly after 11 o’clock Monday morning at the Bank of America located at 3833 West Commercial Boulevard. After patiently waiting his turn in line, the well-dressed suspect approached the teller and handed her a note demanding money. The suspect indicated he had a weapon, but none was seen.

Broward Sheriff's Office robbery detectives believe the suspect became spooked when he realized the teller at the next station was listening. Before the first teller could comply with his demands, the suspect fled with his robbery note and no cash.

The suspect was wearing a long-sleeved white dress shirt and dress pants. Some witnesses recalled seeing a Mickey Mouse or Popeye emblem on the front left side of the dress shirt. He’s believed to be about six feet tall and 180 pounds, bald with a mustache and bulging eyes.

Anyone with information on the identity and/or whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call BSO Robbery Det. Mark Copley at (954) 321-4270 or call Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at (954) 493-TIPS.

MEDIA NOTE: The surveillance video is available for your reproduction at the BSO Media Relations office until 5:30 p.m. today. Still photos of the suspect are attached to this news release on our website at
