Description of Incident:

The stealthy thief who stole several knives from the National Armory store in Pompano Beach was arrested after he was identified in recently released surveillance video.

Broward Sheriff’s Office Oakland Park deputies arrested Dwayne Levy shortly after 8 p.m. Friday, May 3. Levy faces grand theft, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and violation of probation charges.

Shortly after the surveillance video was released last week, a BSO detention deputy and another person recognized Levy after viewing the video on BSO’s website at www.sheriff.org.

On Wednesday, January 23, 2013 several high-value tactical knives were stolen in plain sight from a display case at the National Armory. BSO deputies responded to the store when employees noticed that four tactical knives were missing from the glass display case.

Surveillance video captured Levy pacing in the store moments before the theft occurred. At approximately 5:28 p.m., the video shows him reaching over the counter several times and stealing the knives. Witnesses said he fled the area on a bicycle.
