BSO CONTINUES CHILD SEAT INSPECTIONS

The Broward Sheriff's Office is offering weekly child car seat safety checks in Oakland Park, and Pompano Beach.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration numbers show that in 2000 alone, more than half of all the children under the age of 15 who were not restrained during a car crash died. Further, NHTSA numbers show that motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for kids ages 4 to 14 and that using child safety seats reduces fatal injuries by 71-percent for infants and by more than 54-percent for toddlers (ages 1-4).

To help make Broward a safer place for our children, deputies from the Broward Sheriff's Office will check child car seats for proper installation, fix any repairable problems with the seats, and check to see if the seats have been the subject of a
recall.

The child safety seat inspections are held every Tuesday from 8-11 am at the following locations. Be sure to call ahead of time to make an appointment.

In Oakland Park at BSO’s District 12 Office, 301 NE 38th Street. To make an appointment, call (954) 561-6161.

In Pompano Beach at BSO’s District 11 Office, 100 SW 3 Street. To make an appointment, call (954) 784-4361.
