Description of Incident:

Broward Sheriff's Office robbery detectives have obtained an arrest warrant and are actively seeking the whereabouts of two suspects who robbed a gas station clerk in Oakland Park last Friday.

Shortly before 11 p.m. on August 2nd, Dwight Saint Patrick Austin and his accomplice entered the Texaco Gas station located at 3100 North Andrews Avenue. The clerk immediately recognized Austin as he walked toward the counter. The clerk only knew him by his first name and remembered him as being a frequent customer who had purchased gas in the past.

As the second suspect approached the counter, he pulled out what appeared to be a black semi-automatic handgun and threatened to shoot the clerk if he didn’t open the cash register. Both suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of cash without injuring anyone. The two left the scene in a 4-door dark colored vehicle with a hardtop, unknown make and model.

BSO Robbery detectives also hope to learn the identity of Austin’s accomplice. Witnesses say he is a black male in his early to mid 30’s, about five feet six inches tall, and approximately 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jean pants and a red T-shirt with blue and white horizontal stripes.

Detectives warn that Dwight Saint Patrick Austin has an extensive criminal history. He may be armed and is considered extremely dangerous. Anyone who knows his whereabouts or the identity of the suspect is urged to contact BSO Robbery Det. Bob Kerr at (954) 321-4270 or call Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS. As always, those calling in tips to Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and are illegible for a reward up to $1,000 for information leading to Austin’s arrest.
