Description of Incident:

Two men walked around a locked front fence and entered the Rustic Inn about 4:20 a.m. July 5. Using a wrench and a fishhook they opened the locked kitchen freezers and stole an assortment of seafood.

Restaurant employees told BSO deputies the burglars appeared to know what they were doing and accessed only the freezers containing expensive seafood. The burglars left with 200 pounds of Maine lobster, 100 pounds of blue crab, 40 pounds of crabmeat, 100 pounds of Dungeness crab, 100 pounds of grouper and 100 pounds of snapper. The haul was estimated at 640 pounds of seafood worth $6,435.

Both men, who appeared to be in their 20s, were heavily tattooed. The taller of the two has detailed tattoos on his upper chest, right arm and legs. His accomplice, who is shirtless and carries a backpack, appears to have a large tattoo on his torso.

A surveillance video provided by the restaurant showed the men struggling to carry off a covered cooler at the east dock of the restaurant.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Detective Edward Valderrama at 954-964-0200 or Crime Stoppers of Broward County, anonymously, at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
