MAN FATALLY SHOT ON INTERSTATE 95

HIGHWAY CLOSED FOR HOURS FOR HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION

Description of Incident:

A man was shot and killed Sunday morning as he drove onto Interstate 95 from Commercial Boulevard. All southbound lanes of the highway were closed for nearly three hours while Broward Sheriff's Office detectives from the crime scene, homicide and traffic homicide units conducted their investigation.

Detectives have not yet said what prompted the shooting. Around 6:40 a.m., BSO's communications department received 911 calls from motorists reporting shots fired on the highway. When deputies arrived, they found a silver Buick that had crashed into a guard rail.  Deputies and Oakland Park Fire Rescue extinguished a fire in the engine compartment. The driver was dead inside the car.
