BSO Deputies Help with Annual Homeless Count
Broward Sheriff’s Office Deputy Lauren Apollo chatted Friday morning with 61-year-old Warren Dean outside the Edward W. Smith Jr. Family Nutrition Center on Broward Boulevard. Dean has been homeless for the past nine months. Apollo was one of 40 BSO deputies who helped with the 24-hour 2013 Homeless Point-In-Time Count. It was organized by The Broward County Homeless Initiative Partnership in collaboration with the Broward Regional Health Planning Council, Inc. and the Homeless Count Committee. The count, which was part of a nationwide effort, helps counties get federal and state grants to help the homeless.
