SUSPECT SKETCH RELEASED IN
DEERFIELD BEACH PAWN SHOP ARMED ROBBERY
Victim(s): Maurice “Mickey” Kleinman, 62, 7/18/41, 253 Cameron Drive, Weston
Suspect(s): two unknown black males
Description of Incident:
Broward Sheriff’s Office robbery detectives have released a composite sketch of an armed culprit who stole cash, guns and other loot during a violent pawnshop robbery the day after Thanksgiving.
At approximately 7:45 a.m., Friday, November 29th two armed suspects entered the Hock Exchange (pawn shop) at 204 North Federal Highway in Deerfield Beach. Once inside, the suspects made their way to the shop’s front counter and asked the manager, Maurice “Mickey” Kleinman, to see a ring inside a glass display case. As Kleinman reached into the case to get the ring, one suspect produced a small caliber handgun and pistol-whipped the victim.
Using thick tape found inside the shop, the second suspect bound the victim’s hands as the other suspect held him at gunpoint. The two thieves then used a key to gain access to a pistol case from where several handguns were taken. The suspects also made their way to an open vault at the rear of the shop from where they took several pieces of jewelry and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Both men fled in Kleinman’s 1999 silver Ford Windstar mini-van (Florida tag number A29-TBA).
The suspects are both described as black males, both about 5’7” and weighing around 140 pounds, and both 20 to 25 years of age. Anyone with any information is asked to call BSO at 954-765-4321 or contact Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously at (954) 493-TIPS.
