MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND ENFORCEMENT OPERATIONS

PIO Number: 14-5-13
Date:  May 22, 2014

The Broward Sheriff’s Office reminds all motorists to make safety the No. 1 priority as they commemorate the men and women in the armed forces who’ve died serving our country. In an effort to make this time of remembrance enjoyable for everyone on land and sea, BSO deputies, motormen and the DUI Task Force will be on the look out for aggressive and impaired drivers throughout the holiday weekend.

The DUI Task Force will be conducting a saturation patrol from 11 p.m. Friday, May 23, until 3 a.m. Saturday, May 24. Deputies will also be enforcing DUI laws and identifying impaired drivers Saturday and Sunday in conjunction with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission in eastern Broward County. Saturday, the BSO Breath Alcohol Testing unit will be located along US 1 and Southeast 17 Street Causeway in Ft. Lauderdale. Sunday, they will be located at John Lloyd State Park in Dania Beach.

BSO, Mother’s Against Drunk Driving and Yellow Cab remind you that you get to “Choose your Ride.” If you’re under the influence, calling a cab will cost you a few dollars, while a DUI arrest can cost you thousands, if not your life or the life of others.
