  • Two unidentified males (SURVEILLANCE VIDEO)

Description of Incident:

Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying two men who stole nearly 100 cartons of cigarettes from a gas station in Deerfield Beach.

Two unidentified men parked a van in front of the Hess Express storage building. They used the van as cover while they pried open the security gate doors and disabled the alarm. Once inside, they forcibly opened a metal cage and stole 93 cartons of cigarettes valued at more than $4,000. The storage building had a security camera and, although the suspects realized it was there and tried to turn it away, they were still captured in the act.

BSO detectives are searching for a black man with a medium build, approximately 40 years old and six feet tall. He was wearing a Yankees baseball cap, a white t-shirt, a green Waste Management vest and blue jeans. The second suspect is a black male with a heavy build, approximately 40 years old and six feet tall. He was wearing a black baseball cap, orange work vest and blue jeans. They drove a white cargo van which may have been a 2008 Ford with untinted windows in the back.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact BSO Detective Robert Stoddard at 954-480-4300 or Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or Crime Stoppers will pay up to $3,000 for information that leads to an arrest.

MEDIA NOTE: Surveillance video is available.
