The 25th annual Toys in the Sun Run is rounding the bend, and motorists may want to find alternate routes to avoid delays.

On Sunday, Dec. 9, thousands of motorcycles will leave the Mardi Gras Casino, 831 N. Federal Hwy. in Hallandale Beach, to begin a trek to Markham Park, 16001 W. State Road 84 in Sunrise.

Road closures along the route will affect traffic flow. At 9 a.m., the bikers will head west on Pembroke Road. They will take Interstate 95 north to 595 and head west. They will exit at 136th Avenue, continue west on State Road 84 and enter Markham Park. Those roadways will be closed from approximately 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

There will be live entertainment, more than 100 vendors, food and a classic bike show. Admission is $10 per person with an unwrapped toy, or $20 per person without a toy. Organizers are not accepting stuffed animals. The run typically raises more than half a million dollars and collects more than 50,000 toys. The annual event is organized by the South Florida Presidents Council, the largest motorcycle club in Florida.
