BSO RELEASES NAME OF WOMAN KILLED IN DAYCARE VAN CRASH

Driver 1: Keturah Janel Kelly, female, 24, 5/11/89,11420 Clear Creek PL, Boca Raton (DECEASED)

Driver 2: Veronica Blackman, female, 52, 11/13/61, 890 NW 23rd Ter., Pompano Beach

Description of Incident:

The woman killed Friday afternoon when she crashed into the back of a daycare van was 24-year-old Keturah Kelly of Boca Raton. Kelly's dark blue Nissan Altima was travelling at a high rate of speed when it rear-ended the daycare van. Six children and the woman driving the daycare van were injured.

Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide investigators said the crash happened at 2:41 p.m. at the intersection of Northwest 27th Avenue and Northwest 9th Street in a residential area in Pompano Beach. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded along with BSO.

PBFR paramedics treated the children and their driver, 52-year-old Veronica Blackman, on scene and transported them to Broward Health North and Broward Health Medical Center. None appeared to have life-threatening injuries. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
