(December 24, 2007) Broward County Sheriff Al Lamberti today announced the arrest of three suspects who investigators say are responsible for over a dozen pharmacy robberies in Broward and Palm Beach counties in numerous jurisdictions over a five month period.

The trio, accused of targeting 24 hour pharmacies across Broward County and throughout southern Palm Beach County includes:

• Timothy Johnson, a.k.a. “Back Arms”
B/M, DoB 12/15/73 of 2501 NW 7 Street, Pompano Beach.

• Gerald Joshua, a.k.a. “Dread”
B/M, DoB 6/11/80 of 1879 NW 5 Way, Pompano Beach.

• Deitrich Johnson, (no relation to Timothy Johnson) a.k.a. “Real Deal”
B/M, DoB 1/1/86 of 2681 NW 5 Street, Pompano Beach.

Broward Sheriff’s Office Robbery detectives have positively linked these three suspects to 13 pharmacy robberies from May 20, 2007 to October 18, 2007. Among the evidence against them is DNA recovered from the scenes as well as surveillance videos. It also includes key evidence recovered through search warrants, the seizure of suspects’ phone records as well as various automobiles and two firearms. Finally, the evidence also includes 15 individual confessions linking one or more of the suspects to the crimes.

“These three men have preyed upon Broward County and all of South Florida, chipping away at our sense of security. They have forced ordinary citizens to think twice before exercising the freedoms we all enjoy,” said Broward Sheriff Al Lamberti. “Their arrests are a victory for law and order over greed and violence.”

One or more have been positively linked to the following armed robberies:

• May 20, 2007 Walgreens 1001 SW 2 Avenue, Boca Raton

May 20, 2007 Walgreens 289 S. Federal Hwy., Deerfield Beach

May 31, 2007 Walgreens 3200 S. Federal Hwy., Delray Beach

June 5, 2007 Walgreens 1515 E. Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale

Sept. 4, 2007 CVS 1501 S. Federal Hwy., Pompano Beach

Sept. 11, 2007 Walgreens 1201 S. Federal Hwy., Fort Lauderdale

Sept. 30, 2007 Walgreens 6401 W. Commercial Blvd., Tamarac

Oct. 8, 2007 CVS 5501 W. Oakland Park Blvd., Lauderhill

Oct. 8, 2007 CVS 255 State Rd. 7, Margate

Oct. 8, 2007 Walgreens 4600 Coconut Creek Pkwy., Coconut Creek

Oct. 15, 2007 CVS 2601 E. Atlantic Blvd., Pompano Beach

Oct. 18, 2007 CVS 9851 Glades Rd., Boca Raton

Oct. 18, 2007 CVS 10055 Yamato Rd., Boca Raton

According to BSO Robbery detectives, Gerald Joshua has confessed to his involvement in six of the above listed robberies. He has also been named as an accomplice in three of the above listed robberies. Timothy Johnson has confessed to his involvement in nine of the above listed robberies. He has also been named as an accomplice in four of the above listed robberies. Deitrich Johnson has been named by accomplices in thirteen of the above listed robberies.

Other individuals have also been identified over the course of this investigation. Additional arrests and charges are possible. The cases against Gerald Joshua, Timothy Johnson and Deitrich Johnson are still being worked by BSO Robbery detectives who, together with detectives in the other jurisdictions, will file charges against the trio for review by the State Attorney’s Office.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office would like to acknowledge the United States Marshall’s Service, the State Division of Probation and Parole, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms for their assistance in these cases.
