BROWARD COUNTY CRIME COMMISSION HONORS TOP COPS

Nineteen Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives will be among the more than three dozen investigators from several Broward public safety agencies honored Thursday at the Broward County Crime Commission’s 33rd Annual Criminal Justice Dinner.
 

Hundreds of supporters of the criminal justice system are expected to attend the gala starting at 6 p.m. at the Deerfield Beach Hilton. Following the cocktail hour, the dinner and program will begin at 7 p.m.
 

Broward Sheriff Al Lamberti will introduce keynote speaker Wilfredo A. Ferrer, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida. The commission will present awards to the recipients of the Broward County 17th Judicial Circuit Court Prosecutor of the Year, the Frank R. Pinter Lifetime Achievement Award, the Tom Magill Community Service Award and the Detective of the Year Award from every Broward County law enforcement agency.
 

The Broward County Crime Commission was founded in 1976, and its mission is “to sustain and enhance the coordination, cohesiveness, resources, effectiveness, efficiency and productivity of the Criminal Justice System, so that citizens can live, work and raise families without the fear of crime.”
