The victim had his wallet stolen while waiting in line at an Oakland Park convenience store. Now, Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are releasing surveillance video of the theft in the hopes that the loathsome suspect can be identified.

Around 4 p.m. July 7, the victim put his wallet and merchandise on the counter as he waited to pay at the Mobil gas station at 901 W. Oakland Park Blvd. When it was his turn, the victim grabbed his would-be purchases but left behind his slim wallet. That’s when the suspect, who was standing behind him, swiped the wallet.

Detectives say as the victim and other customers looked for his wallet, the callous thief stood by unmoved. The suspect even remained in the store to buy a sports drink. The victim later found out that two unauthorized transactions were made with his missing debit card.

In the video, the suspect’s distinctive tattoos can be seen on the right side of his body. He was wearing a sleeveless blue Nike T-shirt, gray shorts and light-colored sneakers. He sported sunglasses, a bald head and a long blackish beard. The suspect left the store, by motorcycle, and headed west on West Oakland Park Boulevard.

Anyone who has information is asked to contact BSO Detective Robert Sokol at 954-202-3144. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or online at Anonymous tips that lead to an arrest are eligible for a reward of up to $3,000.
