Description of Incident:

The Broward Sheriff's Office Homicide Unit is investigating a suspicious death that occurred inside a home near Fort Lauderdale.

At 7:03 a.m. today a BSO deputy on routine patrol was flagged down by a man at 501 NW 33rd Terrace. The man said his roommate was not breathing. The deputy entered the house, checked on the man and found him to be unresponsive. Paramedics were called to the scene and they pronounced the man dead.

BSO Homicide detectives responded to investigate and immediately noticed that the dead man had some visible injuries. His roommates told deputies that he had been involved in a fight Tuesday night.

The Broward Medical Examiner will determine whether the man died as a result of the brawl or from some other cause.

The name of the man, believed to be 61-years-old, is being withheld until he is positively identified and his next of kin are notified.
