BSO Case Number: LS02-02-500
PIO Number: 02-02-45
Date: February 22, 2002
Place of Occurrence: “This & That Boutique” 237 East Commercial Blvd., Lauderdale-By-The- Sea

Victim(s):

  • State of Florida

Suspect(s):

  • Devora Nocero, W/F, 73, 6/6/28, 243 Imperial Lane, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea

Description of Incident:

The Broward Sheriff's Office is busy tagging and cataloging a colossal collection of counterfeit designer items found at a Lauderdale-By-The-Sea store.

Based on a tip from an investigator working for one of the victimized designers, BSO detectives went to the “This & That Boutique” at 237 East Commercial Boulevard on Friday, February 22, 2002. Inside were a bundle of bogus goods that, if genuine, would have a retail value of perhaps 3-and-a-half-million dollars.

Investigators suspect the owner, 73-year old Devora Nocero of 243 Imperial Lane, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, was selling fake Louis Vuitton luggage and knock-off Rolex watches from her store.

BSO’s probe into the depth of this case is just beginning. It will likely take quite some time for detectives to register all the current evidence and there is the possibility that more evidence may be uncovered.

Charges against Nocero are pending based on review by the State Attorney’s office.
