BSO Equipment and Personnel on Display
For Visiting Accreditation Assessment Team

A visiting team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) will get a glimpse of the machines and manpower that comprise the Broward Sheriff's Office during a huge outdoor static display at the Public Safety Building Sunday morning.

Vehicles utilized by various BSO units will line the perimeter of our headquarters’ parking lot and deputies and support staff will be on hand to explain their duty and purpose. The units represented will include Aviation, Marine Patrol, Dive Team, Mounted Patrol, Canine, Motorcycles, Bicycles, SWAT, DUI, Crime Scene, Bomb Squad, COP (Citizens Observer Patrol), Honor Guard, School Resources Officers, Community Service Aides, Airport Service Aides, Explorers and the Posse. The specialty vehicles will include boats, a helicopter, the BATmobile, Mobile Crime Lab, Bomb Removal Truck and Trailer, Mobile Command Post, Driving Simulator, Military vehicles, D.A.R.E. car, G.R.E.A.T. racecar and trailer, BSO racecar, electric cars and all terrain cycles.

The Broward Sheriff's Office must comply with 443 standards in order to be reaccredited by CALEA, which assembled the assessment team, due to arrive in Broward County Aug. 3rd to begin a top-to-bottom inspection. Citizens’ comments are also invited at a public forum at 6 p.m. Monday at the Public Safety Building or by telephone (954-797-0977) from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday.
