Description of Incident:

A man posing as a UPS delivery man had his plans dashed by a quick-thinking victim and her helpful neighbor. Broward Sheriff’s Office Robbery detectives are searching for the armed robber.

On the afternoon of Feb 27, Marie Jean Pierre, 65, heard a knock at her door. The man at the door identified himself as UPS delivery man and told Pierre he had a package that she needed to sign for. Pierre opened the door, and as she grabbed the clipboard, the man pulled a handgun from his waistband. Pierre quickly shoved the suspect away and began to scream for help in the front yard. The man ran to his car to leave but noticed a neighbor had come out to investigate.

Claudia Kretzer, 44, heard Pierre’s screams and came out to see what was happening. The armed robber noticed Kretzer holding her phone and assumed that the neighbor had taken a picture of him or his car. He wrestled Kretzer to the ground and stole her phone. The man dropped two packages in the victim’s yard as he fled. The first box was empty; the second contained eight zip ties and a roll of duct tape.

Detectives are searching for a white man, possibly Hispanic, in his 20’s. He was wearing a white sweater, khaki pants and a colored bandana on his head. He was driving a gray Dodge Charger.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact BSO Detective Scott Nida at 954-321-4249 or Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or Crime Stoppers will pay up to $3,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
