Description of Incident:

Broward Sheriff's Office detectives are tightening their dragnet on a man wanted for questioning about a double murder in unincorporated Broward County last month. The reward for information on Maurice “Ram” Jackson is up to $1000.00.

On the afternoon of August 27, 2002, 28-year old Jackson, drove Demitrius “Nasty” Dixon and Jerry “Jay” Smith, both 30, to the parking lot of the Driftwood Terrace Apartments. The plan was to meet with 26-year old John Calixte and steal drugs from the man. The rip-off went bad, Smith, Dixon, and Calixte drew guns, and when the smoke cleared, Smith and Calixte were dead. Smith was shot twice and Calixte took fourteen bullets.

After the shooting, Dixon jumped into a vehicle driven by Jackson and the two fled north. BSO detectives notified authorities in Volusia County that the pair might be headed their way to hide out.

On September 1st, an eagle-eyed Daytona Beach police officer spotted “Nasty” Dixon hanging out in front of a home in that city. He took Dixon into custody without incident. Dixon is in the Broward Sheriff's Office Main jail facing numerous charges, including two counts of murder.
BSO detectives think Maurice “Ram” Jackson is still in the Daytona Beach area. They want to talk to him about the double murder and say he also has an outstanding warrant for robbery.

Anyone with information on Maurice “Ram” Jackson should call Broward Crime Stoppers at
(954) 493-TIPS or in Volusia or Flagler counties, call Crime Stoppers at (888) 277-TIPS. Information can be given anonymously to qualify for a reward of up to $1000.00.
