Description of Incident:
A Pompano Beach woman ran for her life Thursday night when a man tried to pull her into his vehicle.
Just before 8 p.m., the 26-year-old was walking southbound on Southwest 2 Avenue toward the Sunoco Gas Station when she spotted a dark-colored, older model, small-sized pickup slowly moving toward her. The truck stopped beside her and a white male got out of the car and grabbed her. The victim fought with her aggressor, screaming, pushing and kicking. The suspect punched the victim in the face, but she continued to fight, finally breaking free from his grip and running home.
The suspect is between 40 and 50 years of age, approximately 6-feet tall, had a 5 o’clock shadow and was wearing a white, button-down shirt, blue jeans and a blue baseball cap. The victim said the assailant’s hands felt callused, had extreme body odor and appeared to be living out of his vehicle. His pickup is in poor condition, with tinted windows, and the driver’s side headlight was damaged.
The victim worked with Broward Sheriff’s Office sketch artist Detective John McMahon on a composite sketch that is being released in the hopes of identifying the suspect.
Anyone who recognizes the above sketched individual is asked to contact BSO Violent Crimes Detective Timothy Metz at 954-321-4224 or Crime Stoppers of Broward County, anonymously, at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or www.browardcrimestoppers.org.
A reward of up to $3,000 is available for information leading to an arrest.
