Description of Incident:

Broward Sheriff's Office Robbery detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying three suspects who have been linked to a rash of recent deliver truck robberies throughout Broward County.

The first incident occurred on April 2, shortly before 11 a.m. while an H.T. Hackney employee was delivering cartons of cigarettes to the Walgreens Store, located at 20 SW 12 Avenue in Deerfield Beach. The victim was inside his 30-foot truck sorting his delivery, when three suspects entered the truck and one of suspects beat him with a fire extinguisher. The suspects stole approximately 132 cartons of cigarettes before fleeing in a newer model white van, possibly a Ford cargo van with no windows on the sides.

The suspects struck again on April 26 at 11 a.m. at 1900 Florinado Road. An Empire Seafood employee was delivering food to a restaurant in Oakland Park when he was hit several times, with an unknown blunt object, by one of the suspects. The suspects locked the victim in the cab of the truck and fled the scene in a white van with several cases of seafood.

The most recent robbery and beating occurred on May 24 just before 2 p.m. as a driver for LP Wholesale Foods was making a delivery at Super Stop Gas Station at 321 North Federal Highway in Dania Beach. The victim was pulled from his truck and beaten with a tire iron and forced inside the suspects’ white van. After putting up a fierce fight with one of the suspects, the victim was able to escape. As he ran for safety, he heard one of his assailants screaming that his leg was broken. The suspects fled empty handed.

Fortunately, none of the victims’ injuries were life threatening. All three suspects are believed to be black males in their twenties. Two of the suspects are approximately five feet ten inches tall, 180 pounds, with short hair. One of the suspects was wearing a blue button down shirt, and the second suspect was wearing a uniform similar to a UPS driver. The third suspect was five feet eight inches tall, about 100 pounds with an afro.

Anyone with information on the identity and/or whereabouts of the suspects is urged to call BSO Robbery Det. Lou Pugliese at (954) 321-4270 or call Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
