BSO & AREA MERCHANTS HELP NEEDY CHILDREN

Again this year, Santa Claus is wearing a green and white uniform as Broward Sheriff Ken Jenne gratefully accepts donations from local businesses to help make the holidays brighter for disadvantaged children.

As the Broward Sheriff's Office gets ready for the 10th annual BSO Toys for Tots and Teens giveaway, the generous support of individuals, groups, and merchants is more important than ever.

Sheriff Jenne will be at the RON COCHRAN PUBLIC SAFETY BUILDING, 2601 West Broward Boulevard in Ft. Lauderdale at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 9, 2002 to accept the kindhearted gifts from the Florida Marlins and Enterprise Leasing.

Other supporters of the BSO Toys for Tots and Teens event include Wal-Mart, Holland America Cruises, BrandsMart USA, Union Planters Bank, Sam’s Club, and Union Bank.

Each year, BSO School Resource Officers and School Board staff invites hundreds of needy kids to this fun-filled, daylong event. Every child gets a toy,
a delicious treat, and a chance to meet Santa. Last year, the Broward Sheriff's Office helped more than 5-thousand little ones enjoy a slice of the holidays that they might not otherwise enjoy.

Broward Crime Stoppers also helps this remarkable program by holding an annual raffle. To purchase a ticket and help an underprivileged child, contact a BSO School Resource Officer, or call the Broward Sheriff's Office at
(954) 321-4100.
