Fire extinguisher program in Cooper City

Last year, there were nearly 1,400 structure fires in Broward County and in many of those blazes, homeowners might have been able to stop the flames by having a fire extinguisher nearby and by knowing how to use it properly.,Fire extinguishers are not designed to be “one size fits all” tools. That’s why BSO Fire Rescue wants you to learn what type of extinguisher to use and how to use it by attending a fire extinguisher class.,BSO’s initial fire extinguisher classes will be held in Cooper City at Station #28 and run approximately 2-3 hours. They’re open to residents 12 years of age and older. A nominal charge of $10.00 covers the cost of fire extinguishers and other necessary supplies.,Students will learn about how fires function, the different types of fires, the rating system used on fire extinguishers and which types of extinguishers to use to battle different types of fires. Eventually, BSO hopes to expand the program to other cities in Broward County.,To learn more about the BSO fire extinguisher classes and other safety programs available to residents, contact BSO Fire-Rescue in Cooper City at (954) 432-8905.
