BSO IDENTIFIES SUSPECTS IN HURRICANE IRMA BURGLARY

Description of Incident:
A 17-year-old boy was shot and another teen is in custody following reports of a burglary in progress in Weston during Hurricane Irma.
Out-of-town homeowners alerted Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies around 3 a.m. Sept. 10 that their home surveillance system had captured burglars inside their home in the 2536 Monterey Court.
At least one deputy fired at Dylan Lemon outside the home injuring him. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue transported Lemon to Broward Health Medical Center with non life threatening injuries. Lemon’s 17-year-old accomplice, Jean Coello, was taken into custody without incident.
The deputy involved in the shooting was not injured.
The Special Weapons and Tactics Team also responded and cleared the property.
Both suspects face burglary and grand theft charges. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is handling the investigation.
