Deputy Daniel Rivera, 32, has succumbed to injuries he suffered September 11 during a single-vehicle crash while on his way to work. He was pronounced dead at 10:20 p.m. Saturday, September 21 at Broward Health North hospital.

Deputy Rivera started with the Broward Sheriff's Office in 2003. Most of his 10 years with the agency was spent as a Department of Detention deputy. He transferred to the Department of Law Enforcement in May 2012. He was assigned to the Pompano Beach district office as a road patrol deputy. More details about Rivera's life and his career at the Broward Sheriff's Office will be released in the coming days.

Funeral arrangements are pending. His family does not wish to speak to media at this time, but they are so grateful for the outpouring of support during this difficult time. We ask that you continue to pray for Rivera's family and his BSO family. Please give us this time to mourn the loss of one of our own.
