LOCKER ROOM BANDIT ON THE LOOSE

- Hispanic or Middle Eastern Male, approximately 30 years old, about 5-foot-11,
- 150-pounds with dark and brown eyes.
Description of Incident:
The Broward Sheriff's Office is asking for your help tracking down the Locker Room Bandit.
He first struck on the afternoon of October 24, 2001 at Gold’s Gym, 1427 East Commercial Blvd. in Oakland Park. The Middle Eastern or Hispanic man, asked to use the gym’s bathroom but instead went into the women’s locker room where he stole the keys of a woman who was showering, located the woman’s Ford Expedition, and fled in it.
The victim’s purse, with several credit cards, was inside the vehicle. The suspect used the victim’s credit cards that same day to make more than 30 charges totaling nearly a thousand dollars.
The suspect was next seen October 27th at the Town Center Mall in Boca Raton where his attempt to use one of the victim’s credit cards was stymied. That same day, the bandit and a black male accomplice were seen in a gas station where the black male stole a purse from a woman’s car.
In the early morning hours of October 28th, Fort Lauderdale police chased the suspect and a black male in the stolen Expedition, but lost the suspects when the pair bailed out near the 1300 block of NW 30th Avenue.
On November 24th, the bandit’s efforts to steal a woman’s keys as she showered at Bally’s fitness center at 959 E. Commercial Blvd. in Oakland Park were halted when the intended victim heard her keys rattling. She screamed at the bandit who then ran away and fled in a red Volvo stolen with keys taken from a Sunrise gym locker room on November 16, 2001.
