Broward Sheriff's Office District 8 deputies and the District 8 Community Council will welcome Santa Claus to Weston this weekend when he makes a special delivery to approximately 75 abused and neglected foster children. Christmas in July is an annual event designed to give the youngsters a day away from their troubles.

Ten tons of real snow will be brought in for the event, along with food and games, and Old St. Nick will arrive at 12 p.m. Each child will receive a gift and have their picture taken with Santa.

The festivities will continue with special appearances by Panthers mascot, “Stanley C. Panther”, former Miami Dolphins players Jeff Cross and Bernie Kosar. BSO’s Citizen Observer Patrol and Mounted Unit, along with Broward County Fire Rescue and Weston Regional Health Park will also participate.

For more information contact BSO Dep. Dave Schupp at (954) 389-2010 or call Dist. 8 Community Council President Jack Perkin at (954) 384-7820.

VERY IMPORTANT MEDIA NOTE: Anyone interested in covering this story, please avoid showing the faces of the children. They are abused foster children who cannot be identified. We greatly appreciate your cooperation.
