Description of Incident:
A reward of up to $1,000.00 is being offered for help catching some would-be car thieves.
Camera’s caught the budding bandits as they broke into a car in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea on November 14, 2002 and now Broward Sheriff's Office detectives are asking for assistance tracking down the crooks.
At about 11:20 the night of the crime, a security guard watching the surveillance system monitors at 3900 North Ocean Drive saw several teenagers near a white Honda Accord close to the property. At first, he saw the teens easily get into the vehicle and thought at first that they may have owned the car. When the guard noticed that it appeared the
up-and-coming crooks were trying to steal the car, he called BSO.
When deputies arrived moments later, the young criminals were gone. Deputies did find one of the car windows pried open and the ignition switch damaged in an obvious attempt to steal the car.
Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000.00 for information leading to the arrest of the budding bandits. Anyone with anonymous information on this case should call Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
