Every Wednesday Night from 6:30 to 9:30 pm

Broward County Public Safety Building

2601 W. Broward Blvd., Ft. Lauderdale

First Floor, Multi-Purpose Room

The Broward Citizens Academy is designed to provide participants with an overview of the criminal justice system, the operation of a law enforcement agency and the workings of the BSO Criminal Investigations Unit. In addition, participants learn about gang prevention and identification, the Professional Compliance Unit, and participate in tours of BSO’s 9-1-1 Communications Center and one of our detention facilities. A K-9 demonstration, a static display of equipment used by the BSO SWAT Team and a visit to the BSO Aviation Unit is also provided. Additionally, attendees are offered an opportunity to participate in a ride along with a BSO deputy in the district and shift of their choice.

This course, offered free of charge, will provide members of the community with a unique opportunity to learn about the American criminal justice system.

Requirements: Must complete application for criminal history check.
