As prom time and summer break approach, it’s also time to remind teen drivers about making the right decision before getting behind the wheel.
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue Deerfield Beach District and Broward Health will present a compelling program on April 14 at Zion Lutheran Church and School. The 18th Annual Scared Straight Program will provide a realistic view of the aftermath of a life-altering vehicle crash.
The scenario includes a vehicle extrication demonstration with firefighters utilizing hydraulic rescue tools to show what can happen if drivers are distracted, as with texting, or impaired by drugs or alcohol. During the extrication and patient care, a narrator will focus on informed decision making about drinking and driving, texting while driving and seat belt safety. Broward Health North will continue the presentation and describe what happens once the trauma patients arrive at the hospital.
On Tuesday, April 15, the program will be presented at Deerfield Beach High School.
