Suspect: unidentified male (surveillance video available)

Description of Incident:

As a mom and dad sat in the front seat of their SUV on a recent evening in North Lauderdale, their two toddlers were buckled into their car seats and their 8-year-old son was still climbing into the backseat. Before the boy could get in, the family heard gunshots and their rear window shattered, a bullet round piercing the headliner of the Nissan Xterra.

Broward Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit detectives are investigating the shooting, which was prompted by a dispute between two men that ended in the 7700 block of Southwest 10 Street in a residential neighborhood. Derek Stovall, 42, was hit once in the forearm during the shooting. Another bullet went through the front door, living room and bedroom walls of a nearby house. The residents showed deputies the bullet, which finally stopped under a bed in the living room. No one in the home was injured.

Detectives have released a photo of the man they believe is the shooter. He was in a green, older model Ford Crown Victoria with large, chrome rims. Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives Matthew Marks or Luis Rivera at 954-321-4224 or Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or Crime Stoppers will pay up to $3,000 for information that leads to an arrest.

Media Note: On the video, the shooter is wearing a jacket, ski hat and very baggy shorts. Detectives would also like to speak with another man in the video. He is wearing a white T-shirt with black, decorative markings and long, dark shorts.
