  • Unidentified black male, 28-38 years old, appx. 6-feet tall, bald

Description of Incident:

The Broward Sheriff’s Office is hoping that the offer of a big cash reward will help track down the grinch that stole Go-Peds from a Pompano Beach business.

Shortly before 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 22, 2002, an unidentified black male was videotaped by security cameras as he used a pickup truck to push a dumpster into the rear sliding door of Riva Yamaha at 3761 N. Dixie Highway. The impact of the dumpster apparently tore an opening in the door large enough to allow the crook entry to the business.

Once inside, the unidentified burglar made two quick trips to the Go-Ped display, brought three of the motorized scooters to the back door, and likely hauled them away in the pickup truck.

Investigators from the Broward Sheriff's Office say the pickup truck used by the thief is somewhat unique in that it is a Jeep Comanche, produced only between 1985 and 1992. A piece of the tail light lens and a rubber piece from the top of the rear bumper broke off of the vehicle when the crook rammed the back door of the business.

The suspect is a black male, bald, about 6-feet tall. He may be driving a dark-colored Jeep Comanche pickup truck with damage to one of the tail lights and the top of the rear bumper.

Anyone with information on the Go-Ped grinch should call Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS to claim the $1,000.00 reward for anonymous information. Surveillance photos of the suspect are attached to this release posted on the Broward Sheriff's Office website at
