TEENS WITH TIME TO WASTE WREAK HAVOC ON PUBLIC RESOURCES

Date: July 17, 2017                                PIO Number: 17-7-18

Deputies are searching for a squad of young men wasting time by setting off a fire alarm at a Deerfield Beach hotel, the result of which is a waste of public resources and a heightened risk to public safety

At 12:33 a.m. June 14, four young males entered the Wyndham Deerfield Beach Resort, located at 2096 N.E. Second Street. Security cameras captured the rowdy crew entering through the lobby and roaming around the hotel, seemingly aimless, for several minutes.

They made their way to the rear of the hotel and exited through panic bar exit doors. As the group exited, one of the unidentified males stepped back inside and intentionally pulled the fire alarm. The hotel was evacuated, and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to the scene.

The male who triggered the alarm is described as a teenager, possibly Hispanic, 140 lbs., approximately 5 foot 9 inches, with a medium complexion and tightly-curled brown hair. He wore a yellow T-shirt, black shorts and sandals.

Anyone with information is asked to contact BSO Detective Andrew Gianino at 954-571-4597. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or online at browardcrimestoppers.org. Anonymous tips that lead to an arrest are eligible for a reward of up to $3,000.
