Description of Incident:
Broward Sheriff's Office homicide detectives are expanding their search for a man suspected of killing his former girlfriend last week in the parking lot of a Coconut Creek school; urging the public to cash-in on a reward for the capture of Alejandro Rodriguez.
BSO, along with Coconut Creek police, are coordinating with law enforcement in Palm Beach County in the search for 24-year old Alejandro Rodriguez. Shortly before 9:00 am on Friday, April 12, 2002, Rodriguez reportedly shot 22-year old Annette Arteaga, as she was getting ready to go to a class at Atlantic Vocational & Tech Center. Ms. Arteaga, a single mother, died a short time later at an area hospital.
Over the weekend, there were reports that the murder suspect was spotted in Palm Beach County. Investigators believe Rodriguez, a Mexican who may be in the U.S. illegally, may be trying to blend-in with the migrant community there. Detectives are reaching out to south Florida’s Hispanic community, asking for help in capturing this potentially armed and dangerous fugitive.
Alejandro Rodriguez is 5-foot-6, about 155 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes. He has no known permanent address and likely has no vehicle at his disposal. There is a reward of up to $1,000.00 dollars for information leading to the arrest of Rodriguez. Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Rodriguez should call Crime Stoppers. We don’t need your name, just your information. In Broward, call (954) 493-TIPS, in Palm Beach, call (800) 458-8477.
