ELDERLY MAN KILLED DURING ARGUMENT WITH NEIGHBOR

Suspect(s): Antonio L. Grant, 38, male, 8/6/78, 2340 N.W. 16th Court, Fort Lauderdale

Description of Incident:

Broward Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives are investigating the death of 72-year-old Oscar Monroe, of Lauderdale Lakes.

BSO deputies first responded around 7:40 p.m. July 5 to 3981 N.W. 30th Terrace in Lauderdale Lakes following a report that someone was shot. Monroe and his neighbor were arguing when the neighbor’s brother, Antonio Grant, came to the apartment complex and joined the dispute. Grant, 38, shot the victim, and the two brothers fled the scene. Monroe was transported by Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.  

Grant, who met with detectives on Thursday, was arrested in connection with the death. He’s facing two charges: possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and tampering with evidence.
