Description of Incident:

Broward Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives have identified one of the three suspects involved in a murder that took place late last month in Central Broward.

The original incident occurred at 11:21pm on June 24th, Reginald Wallace and some friends were playing dice in front of 3521 NW 7th Court in unincorporated Ft. Lauderdale. A slow-moving car passed by and moments later an armed man approached. The men began to flee and Wallace was shot.

On July 10th, investigators located the getaway car in East Ft. Lauderdale. The vehicle belongs to the mother of a woman identified as the girlfriend of Richard Thomas Lewis. Detectives were able to confirm it was the car used in the murder by matching pieces of the vehicle left at the scene following a minor accident during the suspects’ escape. Additionally, witnesses were able to identify Lewis as one of the culprits through a photo lineup. The other two suspects involved in the murder have not yet been identified.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Lewis on murder charges. Detectives learned that he has a history of violent crime. He was released from prison on February 1st, 2001 after serving time for robbery and assault. Lewis was last seen in Cooper City yesterday (7/12) at 8:00am. He is believed to be driving a 1989 black 4-door Cadillac Deville – Florida tag E-9-9-Y-X-Y. Detectives think he is still in Broward County and are asking for the public’s help to track him down. Lewis should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who knows his whereabouts should contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest.
