BSO PROMOTIONS CEREMONY

Broward Sheriff Scott Israel will promote 26 employees Tuesday afternoon at a special ceremony taking place at the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center. These promotions will be made in the Departments of Law Enforcement, Detention and Community Programs and Fire Rescue.

Four of the nine deputies promoted to sergeant are women, in keeping with Sheriff Israel’s goal of increasing diversity within the organization. “These men and women exemplify the high caliber of employee that make up BSO,” Sheriff Scott Israel said. “I congratulate these future leaders and look forward to their contributions to agency.”
Robert Drago is being promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel. Drago began his law enforcement career in the City of Pompano Beach in 1979. In the following 34 years, he performed duties in Road Patrol, Marine Patrol, Street Crimes, Criminal Investigations and the Training Division. He progressed through the ranks to commander, before merging with the Broward Sheriff’s Office in 1999. He has held positions within BSO as an operations lieutenant, executive officer and district captain, prior to his promotion to major.
From the Department of Detention the following employees are being promoted to sergeant: Ernest Alexander, Berthel Archibald, Carla Slappy, Scott Small, Jacqueline Williams, Enid Brown, Ivan Cano, Lubens Jeanbaptiste and Tabitha Person.
In Fire Rescue: Natalie Jones will be promoted to administrative specialist II, Brion Poitier to captain, Lourdes Bodine to accountant I, Willilean Coleman to administrative assistant, Tammy Nugent to division chief, Timothy Keefe to assistant fire chief, David Lindsay to battalion chief, Kyle Van Buskirk to battalion chief, Stephen Bertuccio to captain, Brian Ruwe to driver engineer, Jason Smith to captain, Matthew Solomon to driver engineer, David Sigman to captain, Cristiane Rodriguez to property specialist II, Sandy Kent to purchasing agent II and Richard Delgado to driver engineer.
