Description of Incident:

Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives identify the motorcyclist killed in Saturday’s crash in Wilton Manors. Luis Saenz-Gomez’s name had been temporarily withheld until his closest relative could be notified.

Just before midnight April 15, a Honda CBR, driven by Saenz-Gomez, collided with a Toyota Corolla at East Oakland Park Boulevard and Northeast 6th Avenue. The Honda was in the center lane and headed east on East Oakland Park Boulevard when, at the intersection, the motorcycle’s front struck the passenger side door of Erika Ray’s car as she was making a left turn onto the avenue.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced Saenz-Gomez dead. Ray was taken to Broward Health Medical Center with not life threatening injuries.

Detectives suspect that the motorcyclist was speeding. Their investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to contact BSO Traffic Homicide Investigator Det. Michael Wiley at 954-321-4840.
