  • Brothers Restaurant, 1325 S. Pompano Pkwy, Pompano Beach

  • Unidentified black male

Description of Incident:

The Broward Sheriff's Office wants to put a name to the face of the man who recently burglarized Brothers Restaurant in Pompano Beach. A Crime Stoppers reward of up to
$1,000.00 is being offered for anonymous information that leads BSO to the ‘Brothers Burglar’.

A surveillance camera captured the suspect in action just before 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, 2002, as he worked to break open the eatery’s cash register.

The tape shows the unidentified black male approach a counter in the restaurant and grapple with the register. After tearing the register from the counter, the cold-hearted crook turns to take a charity donation jar before leaving the building.

BSO deputies responding to the burglar alarm found the front door of the business smashed, the cash register on the floor, empty money tills in the parking lot, and no sign of the burglar. According to the restaurant’s owner, Howard Kassof, the thief made more from the donation jar than from the cash register. Kassof says the jar contained about $25.00 in change, but the cash register had been emptied before the business was locked up for the night.

A reward of up to $1,000.00 is offered for anonymous information on the ‘Brothers Burglar’. Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
Photographs of the suspect are attached to this release, posted on the Broward Sheriff's Office website at
