Two masked, armed robbers ambushed three Value Pawn employees as they closed up for the day on Monday (April 15) in Pompano Beach.  Though the pair didn’t get any cash or valuables, they terrified the workers and stole their peace of mind.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office deputy responding around 7 p.m. to the business at 3181 N. Dixie Highway approached with his lights and sirens on and saw three people running toward him as he got close.  The employees told the deputy two armed men had attempted to rob the store and once the suspects couldn’t get money from the safe, they took the employees out to a wooded area next to the business, had them get on their knees and said they were going to kill them.  The sound of the deputy’s siren scared them off.  The suspects ran through the woods and the three victims ran toward the approaching deputy for help.  Despite a search by deputies on the ground and by air, the armed men were not located.

Surveillance video from the store has many camera angles showing what transpired from beginning to end, though the suspects were fully disguised.  As the employees are exiting the store, the armed men order the victims to walk to the rear parking lot and tie their hands.  Next they walk inside the store to have the manager open the safe.  Leaving empty-handed, the last camera shot shows the suspects leading the victims to the wooded lot.

The suspects are dressed in hooded sweatshirts and pants and both are carrying backpacks.  They are described as being between 5’10 and 6’ tall and weighing approximately 160 pounds.

Anyone with information about this robbery or the suspects should contact BSO Robbery Detective Trevor Goodwin at 954-321-4270 or Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or
