BSO DETECTIVES SEEK WOULD-BE BURGLAR IN 'BCHS' SHIRT
Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are looking for a would-be robber captured by surveillance cameras late Thursday night at a Lauderdale Lakes convenience store. The man was wearing a white, hooded sweatshirt with the letters “BCHS” on the front, dark jeans and red and white leather shoes. At about 10:51 p.m., he went into the Kwik-E-Mart at 3950 N.W. 37th Street in Lauderdale Lakes and appeared to be talking on a cell phone. He approached the counter, pulled a handgun out of the front of his pants, pointed it at the clerk and demanded money. The clerk took cover in an adjoining office and called 911. The man tried to get behind the counter but encountered a locked door. He became frustrated, ramming his shoulder into the door and hitting the door with his gun, to no avail. He eventually left through the front door. Shots were fired during the ordeal, though no one was injured. Anyone with information can report it to BSO Det. Mark Copley at (954) 321-4270 or report anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers of Broward County at (954) 493-TIPS or online at www.browardcrimestoppers.org. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
