MAKE WAY FOR DUCKLINGS
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue Saves a Dozen Ducklings
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue saved 12 ducklings that had fallen into a storm drain Tuesday. Two boys notified a deputy around 5:30 p.m. after they heard peeping coming from three drains that were connected by a pipe at Northwest 25 Terrace and Northwest 2 Street in unincorporated central Broward. BSFR Captain Omar Valiente and firefighter Randy Chidester helped flush the ducklings from the pipe into a storm drain where they could be safely captured. The two returned the ducklings to their mother, who was waiting patiently nearby. BSFR encourages residents to be careful near storm drains and call for help if an animal is stuck.
