Copper Thieves Caught on Camera in Unscripted Caper
Criminals Hit Television Show 'The Glades'
Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives have released two surveillance videos showing two suspects at the same location in similar vehicles committing the same crime, but on different days. The first incident happened on April 9 on the set of the television show The Glades. Two men in a white Ford F-150 pickup drove onto the set and stole about $20,000 worth of copper cables that ran from two generators to power air conditioners on the production sets. The surveillance video shows the pickup driving into a parking lot filled with trailers. Two men got out and took about 2,000 feet of cable from two generators. Then on Monday, April 30, a similar video shows a red Ford F-150 doing the same thing. This time, the two suspects took about 300 feet of copper cable valued at about $3,000. Anyone with information about these thieves can contact BSO detectives Phillip Love or Greg Murphy at (954) 985-1953 or report information anonymously to Crime Stoppers of Broward County at (954) 493-TIPS (8477) or online at www.browardcrimestoppers.org. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
