CAR BURGLAR’S PRICEY PURCHASE REJECTED
Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are releasing a short surveillance video of a suspect believed to have burglarized a vehicle on May 2 in Weston and then attempted to use a stolen credit card to purchase an iPad in Aventura a short time later.
That Friday morning, the victim left her gold purse tucked underneath the front seat of her car and covered it with another item to conceal it from plain view. Some time between 8 and 10 a.m., someone smashed the passenger side window of her 2011 Hyundai Sonata, getting away with the purse and cash and credit cards inside.
Around 10:30 that morning, a man was captured on surveillance video from the Target in Aventura attempting to purchase a $534 iPad. The charge was declined.
Anyone who recognizes the male seen in the video is asked to contact BSO Detective Hector Oliva at 954-389-2010. Anonymous tips can be provided to Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or www.browardcrimestoppers.org. A reward of up to $3,000 is available for information leading to an arrest.
Sheriff Scott Israel reminds all motorists not to make themselves easy targets. Burglars are always looking for an opportunity to make easy money. Don’t leave anything of value inside your vehicle and remember to always lock your car doors.
