BSO Case Number: BS02-08-11251

Place of Occurrence: Main Jail, 555 SE 1 Ave., Fort Lauderdale

Victim(s): Name withheld, 36, female

Suspect(s): Kevin Williams, 27, address withheld

Description of Incident:

A Broward Sheriff's Office detention deputy was arrested today and charged with sexual battery in connection with an assault that occurred inside the main jail.

Kevin Williams, 27, is now being held without bond in the same jail, charged with two counts of Sexual Battery. The unlawful incident occurred the night of August 23rd, shortly after the 36-year old victim was arrested by Fort Lauderdale Police for Violation of Probation on a Grand Theft conviction. BSO Professional Compliance Unit detectives determined that Williams escorted the woman to a secluded area within the facility and committed two sexual assaults upon her.

The woman reported the attack to a BSO supervisor shortly after it occurred. The supervisor followed established procedures in reporting the allegations. An investigation was initiated and Williams was immediately suspended from duty. Following a thorough review of the available information and evidence, an arrest warrant was obtained and Williams was called to the Public Safety Building today where he was taken into custody.

Williams has been employed as a Department of Detention deputy since November 29, 1999. He has now been suspended without pay and faces termination.
